Hyundai-Kia To Sell More Than 500,000 EVs Annually In 2025

Hyundai Motor Group expands its plug-in offer and sales volume - just like almost every other carmaker - although the 2025 target seems conservative.

According to Reuters, the group's global sales of electric cars are expected to gradually increase to 560,000 annually by 2025, which is 17 times more than in 2018 (around 33,000).

Hyundai said, that the EV market would face intensifying competition and oversupply soon and automakers failing to meet toughening European emissions regulations will face heavy penalties and suffer a serious blow to their reputation.

“EV supply is expected to surpass demand from the second half of next year,” Ka Suk-hyun, vice president of Hyundai Motor, told an earnings conference call."

Os OEM vigiam-se entre si, certamente muitos deles têm feito desenvolvimentos em BEV para evitar as multas/penalizações.
A afirmação da KIA decorre do senso comum, existe pressão para uma massificação dos BEV mais cedo ou mais tarde eles irão aparecer.

Hyundai's Updated 'Strategy 2025': 560,000 BEV Sales Per Year By 2025

Hyundai recently updated its "Strategy 2025" business plan. Despite the 2020 year being heavily impacted by the COVID-19, EV targets remain the same.

The company intends to gradually increase its all-electric car sales to 560,000 annually by 2025 and capture an 8-10% share of the global EV car sales (compared to its 5% share right now of the overall market).


Targets:

• BEVs: 560,000
• FCVs: 110,000 (about one-fifth of BEVs)
• PHEVs: an undisclosed number
• Total 670,000 annually

It's the first step of a broader move to retire completely from ICE-only cars by 2040 in major global markets.
